DAVE MOSS
Dave is the founder of Unfunded List, a 501c3 nonprofit organization demystifying philanthropy through education and feedback. The Unfunded List’s flagship program is a biannual review of nonprofit grant proposals, with Unfunded List experts reviewing hundreds of grant proposals every year.
Dave is also the host of Open Door Philanthropy, a top-rated podcast educating future generations of philanthropists and social entrepreneurs about fundraising and the philanthropic process. Open Door Philanthropy is currently in its fifth season, which is focused on philanthropic advising and includes a conversation between Dave and our founder Chandler, here.
Dave has read over 1,000 grant proposals since founding Unfunded List in 2015. Prior to this, he worked for over a decade at innovative nonprofits like SEED Foundation, Atlas Corps, and PVBLIC Foundation. As a fundraiser, Dave has helped to raise hundreds of millions of dollars. As a grantmaker, he has given away nearly this same amount… along with significant additional gifts of in-kind services.
In addition to his work with the Unfunded List and Open Door Philanthropy, Dave is active in a number of other philanthropic and social impact efforts, including helping to organize the first Next Gen Leadership Convenings at both the United Nations and the White House. While working at PVBLIC Foundation, Dave was also instrumental in the creation of the “It’s On Us” campaign in partnership with then Vice President Biden’s Office.
Dave has also been named a Presentense Fellow, a Grand Street Cohort participant with 21/64, a Morgan Stanley NextGen Leader, a Reality Global 2015 participant, a member of the Jewish Funder's Network, and served on the founding board of directors of Slingshot. Dave is a proud Maine native, graduated from Dickinson College, and is a member of Temple Beth Israel in Waterville and serves on their capital campaign committee.
