TARA ABRAHAMS
Tara Abrahams is a passionate global advocate for girls and women. Tara is the head of impact at The Meteor, a multi-media collective using the power of storytelling, journalism, and art to advance gender equity and racial justice. Tara is also the board chair of She’s the First, a global girls’ rights organization that reaches 150,000 girls around the world annually, and of the International Center for Research on Women, the world’s premier research institute focused on tackling challenges facing women and girls worldwide.
Tara is also the Founder of Kahani, a print magazine and media platform designed to amplify the stories of adolescent girls around the world.
Tara began her work in girls’ education and women’s empowerment at Girl Rising, a global movement raising awareness about educating girls in the developing world. Tara has also served as founding director of the Maverick Capital Foundation, a strategy consultant at The Bridgespan Group, and a managing director at Acelero Learning.
Tara has advised a variety of leading girls- and women-focused initiatives, from Girls Who Code and VOW to End Child Marriage to The Obama Foundation’s Girls Opportunity Alliance. Tara was recently named to Apolitical’s list of the 100 Most Influential People in Gender Policy and to the 2022 class of Presidential Leadership Scholars.
Tara graduated with honors from Harvard and completed her MBA at Harvard Business School, where she received the Horace W. Goldsmith Fellowship for outstanding contributions to the nonprofit sector. Tara also leads efforts related to women’s empowerment and anti-racism as a Harvard Alumni Association board member.
