Tessa Clarke Olio Philanthropic Advisor

Tessa Clarke is the Co-founder & CEO of Olio, a world-renowned app that exists to solve the climate crisis by tackling the enormous problem of waste in the home and local community. Olio does this by connecting people with their neighbors so that surplus food and other household items can be given away, rather than thrown away; and everyday things can be lent and borrowed, instead of bought brand new.

To date 7 million people have joined Olio, a certified B Corp, and sharing has taken place in 63 countries. Olio has also recruited and trained over 85,000 volunteers who collect unsold food from local businesses—such as supermarkets, corporate canteens, schools and hospitals—and redistribute it to the local community via the Olio app.

Olio’s impact has been widely recognized, most notably by the United Nations who highlighted Olio as a "beacon” for the world in terms of being a scalable solution to the climate crisis. Tessa recently gave a TED talk with 1,000,000+ views about the power of sharing to solve the climate crisis.

Prior to Olio, Tessa had a 15 year corporate career as a Digital Managing Director in the media, retail and financial services sectors. Tessa met her co-founder, Saasha, whilst they were studying for their MBAs at Stanford University. Tessa is passionate about the sharing economy as a solution for a sustainable world, and about ‘profit with purpose’ as the next business paradigm.

Tessa and her family live in the UK.
