CHRISTINE PLATT

Since 2005, Christine Platt has dedicated her career to working at the intersections of social justice and environmental sustainability. A former Senior Policy Advisor for the US Department of Energy, she holds a B.A. in Africana Studies from the University of South Florida, M.A. in African and African American Studies from The Ohio State University, and J.D. from Stetson University College of Law.

Christine is a member of the American Association of Blacks in Energy, Women’s Council on Energy & the Environment, Association of Writers and Writing Programs, Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, Association of Black Women Historians, and the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. She also serves as an Ambassador for Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture

Whether creating human connection and emotional resonance in readers or enhancing the reach and resources of organizations dedicated to eradicating social and environmental injustices, Christine believes in the power of storytelling as a tool for fostering and facilitating lasting, systemic change. A sought-after guest for podcasts and speaking engagements, Christine has appeared on national radio platforms such as NPR's All Things Considered, the Tavis Smiley Show, and Sirius XM’s Signal Boost. Her op-Eds and personal essays have been featured in leading publications such as the L.A. Times, Washington Post, ESSENCE, and many more.
