DAVID GREENE
David Greene is an award-winning journalist and New York Times best-selling author. He is the host of NPR’s Left, Right And Center and Co-Founder of Fearless Media. Most recently, David hosted Ukraine Stories, a podcast that tells the story of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine and the war that followed — one person at a time.
Previously, David was the host of NPR's Morning Edition, the most listened-to radio news program in the United States. David was also the host of NPR's popular morning news podcast, Up First. David offers insights on a range of topics including earned media coverage, journalism, and the evolving—and increasingly proactive—role media is playing in social change efforts around the world.
Prior to his work with Morning Edition, David was an NPR foreign correspondent based in Moscow covering the region from Ukraine and the Baltics east to Siberia. He also wrote the best-selling book Midnight in Siberia, capturing Russian life on a journey across the Trans-Siberian Railway.
David is the winner of numerous journalism awards, many of which have centered on social change topics, including the Edward R. Murrow Award for his interview with young gay men beaten by authorities in Chechnya, the Daniel Schorr Journalism Prize for a series of riveting stories covering the Arab Spring, and the White House Correspondents' Association's Merriman Smith Award for his coverage of then-candidate Barak Obama's historic speech addressing the nation's racial divide.
Before joining NPR in 2005, David spent nearly seven years as a newspaper reporter for the Baltimore Sun. David graduated magna cum laude from Harvard in 1998 with a degree in government and worked as senior editor on the Harvard Crimson. David lives in Los Angeles and Washington, DC, with his wife, Rose Previte, a restaurateur.
